Remember my sudden urge/want to read? Yeah, i finally found a book that is good to read! yeay!! *clap-clap-clap* At first, i was actually having reservations if i would actually read the book because the teaser was kind of weird:
When seventeen-year-old Valerie runs away to New York City, she’s trying to escape a life that has utterly betrayed her. Sporting a new identity, she takes up with a gang of squatters who live in the city’s labyrinthine subway system.
But there’s something eerily beguiling about Val’s new friends. And when one talks Val into tracking down the lair of a mysterious creature with whome they are all involved, Val finds herself torn between her newfound affection for an honorable monster and her fear of what her new friends are becoming.
The part that almost made me not want to read the book was the line: "her newfound affection for an honorable monster…". I thought that this book would be too weird. Crazy weird. But it’s a good thing that i read the book! It’s really good! It’s like Harry Potter with drugs and sex involved.
Valiant is written by Holly Black a #1 New York Times Bestselling Author.
Well, i urge you all to read this book. NOW! Go find one in the nearest National Bookstore near you. If they don’t have a copy, rant and whine why they don’t have a copy and go to the next bookstore and do the same. =)
Last night, I wasn’t feeling too happy (you can read my last blog about it or you can click here, here or here) but my friends really did not know that I was feeling down. So for them, it was just another night out, nothing good to celebrate and nothing bad to whine about.
We had dinner, then we went to Jungle Java to have our daily dose of alcohol (daily dose because it’s been like 4 days straight that we’ve been drinking. haha). We had the usual, beer for the rest of us, and for Brylle, Infinit (if you’re not familiar with this drink, Google it! And it’s really spelled without the e). It was ok, nothing really unforgettable happened while we we’re drinking, nothing funny and/or weird incidents, just that… drinking, talking, and smoking. Everyone was kind-of getting bored so we decided to end our drinking session quite early (about 11 pm… I think).
While we we’re walking home we wanted to buy barbeque, sadly, Mr. Barbecue Man was closed. So we bought a half-gallon Rocky-Road flavored ice-cream instead. When we got to the apartment, we happily ate our half-melted ice-cream while watching “Jumper”. I did not get to finish the movie because I was really sleepy. So, I told them I’d go ahead and sleep.
Last night wasn’t really unforgettable, but it was good enough to keep my mind off things and for me to know that there are more good things in life. Drama much? harhar
